I completed Week 4 of Ease into 5k yesterday morning. All 3 days of Week 4 were the same and looked like this:
Week 4
Workout Time: 31:00 minutes
- Run 4 minutes
- Walk 2 minutes
- Run 6 minutes
- Walk 3 minute
- Run 4 minutes
- Walk 2 minutes
Cool-down with a 5 minute walk.
So, now it’s onto Week 5. This is where I gave up on Couch to 5k TWICE. As I’ve mentioned before, my biggest obstacle is my own negative thoughts. I’m going to do my best to remember that message up there. It doesn’t matter how fast or how far I go.
The 3 days of Week 5 are all different and focus on taking shorter walk breaks/running more. By Day 3, I’ll be running for 9 minutes.
Week 5 — Day 1
Workout Time: 34:00 minutes Brisk 5 minute warm-up walk. Then do the following:
Cool-down with a 5 minute walk.
|
Week 5 — Day 2
Workout Time: 28 minutes
Brisk 5 minute warm-up walk. Then do the following.
Cool-down with a 5 minute walk.
|
Week 5 — Day 3
Workout Time: 30 minutes
Brisk 5 minute warm-up walk. Then do the following.
Cool-down with a 5 minute walk. |
I don’t know if I’ll ever be that person that loves running, but I’ve definitely felt a great sense of accomplishment after completing each day. Not to mention, I’ve also noticed a small change in the way all of my pants/shorts are fitting since I’ve been consistently running. 🙂
Bodybugg Stats
I didn’t quite hit my goals yesterday. Wah wah wah. Close but no cigar.
Calories – 2,120
Steps – 8,730
Activity – 57 minutes
I’m sorry if you’re missing pictures of my food. 🙂 I didn’t take any yesterday because I didn’t eat anything that you haven’t seen pictures of before. I’ve been tracking everything and staying within my points, so I’m hoping the scale cooperates with me this evening.

Good Luck on your week 5! Just keep at it! Working towards my May goals, I added 1/2 mile to my run today. One teeny tiny 1/2 mile kicked my butt!! Really? Back of my thighs got all stiff and now hours later I am stiff all over. I wonder if half a mile can make that big a difference or if it’s all in my crazy head! I love the “I’m a runner” post! Makes me feel legit;)

I’ve just started running and I get the aching all over feeling a few hours after running too. I hope it subsides as I improve!

Hi! I started a 5k running programme about 5 weeks ago too! I am starting week 6 tomorrow. I was surprised at how quickly I started to enjoy running. But I haven’t seen any weight loss yet 😦 The programme I’m doing is for 8 weeks. Then I have about 6 weeks until I’m running a 10K!! I’ve never run in my life so it is all a bit big and scary. It’s good to know that there are other new runners out there. And I love your image about who a runner is. Good luck!

Hi Kim. Well I finally got back out there after taking almost 3 months off and ran tonight with a good friend. It was hot and hard. We ran/ walked 2 1/2 miles. It felt good to get back out there. I just don’t know why I ever stop exercising. It is so hard to get back into it. Keep up the good work and don’t give up
